Pair Hugo Lonitz Majolica Satyr Vases

Circa 1885. Tallest is 14.8ins high, 7.9ins wide, 8.3ins depth. Pair of Lonitz Majolica vases which feature satyr masks to the side, with grape vine swags.

Colouration: cobalt blue, green, cream, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Lonitz pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1430 6'.

Condition

CONDITION: Vase 1: Good.

Flake to lip.

Wear to the high points of the molding.

 

RESTORATION. Filled chip to one horn, nose and lip.

Retouched flake to horn and handles.

Vase 2: Generally good.

Flake to one ear, and flakes to base edge.

Wear to the high points of the molding.

RESTORATION. Handle and section of rim reglued and joins retouched.

Remodelled end to other handle.

Retouched chips and flakes to one face.

Filled chip to one horn.
