Victorian, circa 1870. 5.5ins high, 21.7ins wide, 7.5ins depth. Unidentified English Majolica fish server which features a long boat with a winged beast at its figurehead as the base.
The lid in the form of a planked deck topped by a large fish.
Colouration: green, brown, turquoise, are predominant.
CONDITION: Cover: Generally good.
KILN EFFECTS: Lid is slightly warped and does not sit perfectly on the base.
RESTORATION. Both ends of cover reglued and joins retouched.
Base: Generally good.
Some small flakes here and there;
uneven glaze application to the ground to interior;
a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.
RESTORATION. Creature's lower jaw reglued and join retouched.
Filled chip to creature's ear.
Retouched flakes to wing, and either end of inner rim.
