The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Floral border. Colours green, cream, copper, brown and blue.
Signed and dated, 'Jane Susannah Randall Aged 9 Years 1828'.
A wonderful representation of Solomon's Temple, titled 'North Side of Solomons Temple', with birds, angels, potted flowering plants, stags, lions and fir trees.
Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Stitched to linen with wood and card backing.
CONDITION: Good. A few small holes.
No stains other than uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
Very slight colour run to the green threads in 4 or so places.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
