17th Century Antique Band Sampler with Whitework, by S.F. The sampler is worked in silk threads on a linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Features a wonderful variety of horizontal patterned bands across the sampler. Includes acorns, leaves, flowers. The bottom half features bands of cutwork and whitework. Colours red, copper, silver, green and blue. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case. Signed with initials 'SF'. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is glued around the extreme edges only, not at all visible from the front, to a card. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.
