Book reference: Marcilhac 972.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2018Danaides\u2019 is a great example of\u00a0fabulous design.\u00a0&#8216;Danaides&#8217; also illustrates a\u00a0trademark device he used,\u00a0most likely\u00a0at the very\u00a0conception of the design. It seems he would choose\u00a0an interesting\u00a0subject with a\u00a0fascinating\u00a0subtext. The piece would be named after the subject. These young ladies were forced to marry the fifty sons of his twin brother, a king of the realm with power over all. Or so the king believed.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The girls, however, were having none of it. The myth\u00a0has it that all but one of the fifty daughters killed their husbands on the wedding night. Wow. Girl power, right? For this they were condemned to an eternity of pouring water into a leaky vessel. This may seem not much of a punishment to us. Book reference: Marcilhac 989.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Introduced just one year later, the name chosen for this design\u00a0is more down to earth. &#8216;Beautreillis&#8217; translates to &#8216;Beautiful Lattice&#8217;. When you look into the bubbles, they beautifully relect\/refract bubbles from all around the vase.<\/p>\n<p>Another masterpiece from Ren\u00e9. Does anyone out there have info on the orgin of the\u00a0name &#8216;Bammako&#8217;? What on earth do these\u00a0gorgeous bubbles represent? Some animal, plant or jellyfish? Or merely a pattern? To my\u00a0eye they pulsate with living energy.\u00a0I would love to\u00a0know what it was that sparked Rene&#8217;s imagination.
