Welcome to the fantastical world of Palissy...
Palissy is a type of 19th Century earthenware decorated with coloured lead glazes. Made between 1845 and 1910 Palissy typically depicts scenes of lifelike fauna and flora in the form of wall-plates and platters and other forms. Bernard Palissy (1510-1589) was the first to take molds direct from nature, so ‘Palissy’ was the name adopted when the genre was revived 300 years later.
