Pair Staffordshire pointer spill vases

Victorian, circa 1860. 4.5ins high, 5.5ins wide. Pair Staffordshire spill vases modeled as a russet and white pointer standing before a tree shaped spill, on an oval naturalistic base.





Old, dull gilt base line and decoration to spill.





Vent hole to bellies. Hollow bases.

Condition

Fair. Some rubbing to gilt. Right facing: Two small flakes to lower base edge at front.





Kiln effect: shrinkage crack to reverse of spill.



Left facing: Over glazed shrinkage line to top of base.



Shrinkage crack to front right leg.



Retouching of paint losses to both.





Restoration of tree branches









and tails of both.





Two repaired hairlines to base at reverse of right facing.





Repairs to top of spill to left facing.
