Staffordshire Gilt and White Hen on Nest Tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 6.3ins high, 7.1ins wide, 5.9ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover which features a hen sitting on her eggs, seated on a basketweave oval base

. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Hen: Good. No restoration. A few paint losses to beak.

Some rubbing to gilt.

Nest: Good. No restoration. Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to the rim;

kiln detritus caught in the glaze.
