
pre-Victorian, circa 1800. 10.2ins high, 5.1ins wide, 3.5ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery pearlware figure which features Sir Isaac Newton holding his telescope.
In his other hand he is holding a cover, below which is a globe, books and a page with 1680 on (refers to 'Newton's Comet' of 1680), resting on a rectangular base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.

CONDITION: Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to where his midriff meets his shawl.
RESTORATION. Neck, left hand and three sections to telescope reglued and joins retouched.
Stabilised and retouched hairline to right ankle.
Filled chips to edge of drape and flakes to base.
