George Jones Majolica Merman Dish

Victorian, circa 1875. 6.9ins high, 5.5ins wide, 4.7ins depth. George Jones Majolica dish which features a merman on a clam shell, which sits on a dolphin's back.

Colouration: turquoise, green, puce, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '1872'.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Good. No restoration. Small flake to the reverse on seaweed.

Some small flakes to rim.

Abrasion to nose and knees.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the reverse, under the blanket;

thin glaze application to the turquoise, in places.
