Antique Whitework Band Sampler

Circa 1650. 24.5ins high by 8.5ins wide. Whitework Band Sampler. Framed in an old wood frame with glass.

Mounted on grey paper and tacked to wood (tacks visible around the edges). Brown paper backing to the reverse.

Worked in silk thread with a variety of stitches and whitework techniques including cut and drawn work.

Floral and geometric bands and joined panels.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

One stain in the top right.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound.
