Staffordshire Pottery Shakespeare & Milton Figures

Victorian, circa 1860. Tallest is 11ins high, 5.5ins wide, 3.5ins depth. Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures with a theatrical and literary theme

which feature Shakespeare and Milton, stood on a rectangular base.

The pieces are titled, 'SHAKESPEARE and MILTON' to the fronts.

White and gilt version. Dull gilt embellishment.

Decorated mainly to the front.

Vent holes to the underside. Maker's marks painted to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Milton: Very good.

Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the reverse of left arm;

a couple of specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the front of the base.

RESTORATION. Retouching to shoes.

Shakespeare: Very good.

Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line under left foot.

RESTORATION. Retouching to shoes.
