Pair Staffordshire Alcock 'Dismal' Hounds

Victorian, circa 1840. Tallest is 5.5ins high, 4.5ins wide, 3.1ins depth.

Pair of Alcock Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a hound, chained up, seated on an oval base.

Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated mainly to the front.

Vent hole to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: slight staining to the crazing.

RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to dog's front left leg.

Remodelled tip of tail.

Retouched paint losses to the dog's markings.

Left facing: Good.

Slight wear and abrasions to dog's back.

Slight rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: slight staining to crazing.
