Pair Staffordshire Russet Spaniels with Curly Tails

Victorian, circa 1880. Tallest is 12.6ins high, 9.1ins wide, 4.3ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery dogs which feature a spaniel with a curly tail, seated directly on the ground, no base.

Russet and white version. Bright gilt embellishment.

Flatback, decorated only to the front.

Vent hole to reverse of one. Maker's marks painted to the underside.

Condition

CONDITION: Right facing: Good. No restoration.

A few paint losses to tail and muzzle.

Rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the under side of base;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.

Left facing: Good.

A few minor paint losses to markings.

Rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the underside of base.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to base edge on rear left leg and on front right foot.
