Pair Staffordshire Black and White Spaniels

Victorian, circa 1860.

Tallest is 12.3ins high, 9.8ins wide, 4.1ins depth.

Pair of Staffordshire Pottery dogs which feature spaniels with curly tails, stood directly on the ground, no base.

Black and white version. Dull gilt embellishment.

Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the reverse.

Maker's marks painted to the underside.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Left facing: Very good. No restoration.

KILN EFFECTS: kiln grit caught in the glaze to the reverse, with an associated firing hole;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse;

shrinkage cracks to the tail;

touch mark to the nose.

 

Right facing: Very good. No restoration.

KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse;

slight glaze run to the black.
