Pair of Staffordshire Pottery figures which feature a spaniel with Disraeli curls on it's head and a flower basket in it's mouth (The curls represent Disraeli's, elected Prime Minister 1868 and Queen Victoria’s favourite), seated directly on the ground, no base.
These spaniels were found as singles, which we matched up together. We feel that they make a reasonable pairing.
Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the underside.
Right facing: Good. Small chip under paw.
Wear to left ear.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze.
RESTORATION. Filled chip to nose.
Retouched paint loss to flowers.
Left facing: Generally good. Two small flakes to lower base edge.
KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.
RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched hairline to both sides of nose.
Filled chips to front of flower basket and one to tail.
Retouched paint losses to nose, muzzle and paws.
