Obadiah Sherratt Staffordshire Pottery pearlware table base group with a classical theme which features Pero,
giving her milk to her father Cimon, seated on a rectangular base.
The piece is titled,
'GRECIAN & DAUGHTER' .
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Vent hole to the reverse.
This piece represents the 'Roman Charity' story of a woman Pero, who secretly breastfeeds her father Cimon,
who is incarcerated and sentenced to death by starvation.
CONDITION: Generally good.
A few shallow chips to the bottom of the feet on the table-base.
Small flakes to Cimon's right foot.
A few flakes to the ground.
RESTORATION. Pero's head reglued and join retouched.
Cimon's left foot remodelled.
Nine chain links with restoration (possibly remodelled).
Three of four of the shackles also with restoration.
Filled chips to leaves on bocage.
Two flowers on each side remodelled
