
Victorian, circa 1890. 9.8ins high, 9.8ins wide, 3.1ins depth. Jose A Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, lizard in a burrow, grubs and frogs.
Colouration: green, brown, cream, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.
CONDITION: Very good. No restoration. Some flakes to shredded clay ground.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze;
shrinkage cracks to the lizard's claws.
