
Circa 1890. 7.1ins high, 7.1ins wide, 2.4ins depth. Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a lizard, snake, a beetle and a moth. Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery.
CONDITION: Generally good. Chip to tip of moth's wing and antennae.
Some small flakes to shredded clay, rim and beetle.
Flake associated with stilt mark to reverse.
RESTORATION. Remodelled legs to beetle.
Lizard's head reglued and join retouched.
Filled chips to rim and under rim.
Retouching to lizard and beetle.
