
Circa 1890. 1ins high, 4.5ins wide, 4.5ins depth. Jose A Cunha Majolica plate which features a cicada to the centre surrounded by moths and grubs.
Colouration: green, ochre, blue, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery.
CONDITION: Good.
Chip to foot rim.
KILN EFFECTS: a couple of specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the large moth.
RESTORATION. Retouched chips to tip of both moths wings.
Remodelled middle section to worm.
Retouched flakes to green shredded clay.
