George Jones Majolica Pelican Sardine Dish

Victorian, circa 1875. 5.3ins high, 7.7ins wide, 8.7ins depth.

George Jones Majolica sardine box which features a pelican forming the knop, storks, bamboo and fish.

Colouration: turquoise, green, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the George Jones pottery.

English diamond registration mark for the date 26/06/1875.

Condition

CONDITION: Cover: Very good. No restoration.

KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the finial.

Dish: Very good. No restoration.

Small flakes to base edge.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to interior rim, only present on interior.

Stand: Good.

RESTORATION: Sections of rim at one end reglued and joins retouched.
