
Victorian, circa 1871. 8.3ins high, 8.3ins wide, 5.5ins depth. Minton Majolica jug/pitcher which features a handle in the form of a mermaid
with entwined tail, a satyr mask below the spout and cherubs hanging from grape vines across the sides.
Cobalt blue ground version. Colouration: cobalt blue, green, white, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1420'.
Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1871.
CONDITION: Very good. No restoration.
Some slightly stained crazing to to mermaid torso, back and arms.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to the mermaid's tail.
