
Victorian, circa 1880. 7.1ins high, 4.3ins wide, 4.3ins depth. Majolica tobacco jar and cover which features a dog in a barrel.
Turquoise ground version. Colouration: turquoise, grey, brown, are predominant.
The piece bears marks which we cannot attribute to a particular source.
CONDITION: Cover: Good.
Some small flakes to dog's head and rim of barrel.
KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to the black enamel;
flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse.
RESTORATION. Retouched flakes to dog's ears.
Jar: Generally good.
Tight hairline to rim.
Slight wear to the rim.
KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to turquoise glaze.
RESTORATION. Side section reglued and join retouched
