Minton Majolica 'Shakespeare' Platter

Victorian, circa 1873. 12.2ins high, 12.2ins wide, 1.4ins depth. Minton Majolica platter which features a portrait panel to the centre,

having a bust of Shakespeare. An inscription around the rim reads,

'HE WAS NOT OF AN AGE BUT FOR ALL TIME'.

Colouration: brown, green, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery.

Bears a pattern number, '1105'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1873.

Condition

CONDITION: Very good. No restoration.

Bruise under rim.

Wear to the high points of the molding.
