Large English Majolica frog jug/pitcher

Victorian, circa 1882. 12.2ins high, 8.7ins wide, 7.7ins depth. Unidentified English Majolica jug/pitcher which features a frog seated on a lily pad. Colouration: green, ochre, brown, are predominant.

English diamond registration mark for the date 14/11/1882.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Good. No restoration. Chip to foot underside.

Some small flakes to handle, rim, eyes, and lily pad edge.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the lily pad edge;

shrinkage lines along the mold join.

RESTORATION. Filled and retouched chip to rim and foot rim.
