
Victorian, dated 1845. 16.5ins high by 16.5ins wide. 1845 Scottish Sampler by Jane Scott. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Stitched over card with wood backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches.
Rolling waves border.
Colours greens, yellow, pale blue, white, grey and copper.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case, numbers 1-12, and family initials.
Signed and dated,
'Jane Scott 1845'.
A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden,
dogs,
birds,
flowers,
fruit baskets,
fir trees,
thistles,
stags
and rabbits.
CONDITION: Generally Good.
A few small holes to top edge.
A few patchy stains around the house.
Slight discolouration around the fir tree and basket, bottom left.
No stitch losses.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
