Antique Woolwork Embroidery by Ann Griffiths 1818

George III, dated 1818. 10.5ins high by 15ins wide. Antique Woolwork embroidery by Ann Griffiths 1818. Framed in an old, burr maple frame with rippled, old glass.

Fixed to linen with card and brown paper backing.

The sampler is worked in wool and silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.

Colours browns, cream, red, yellow, white, pinks and greens.

Signed and dated, 'Dec 24 Ann Griffiths 1818'.

Picture depicts a basket of exotic fruit, including: grapes, a pineapple, strawberries and apples.

CONDITION: Generally Good. A number of holes, some have previously been repaired.

A number of patchy stains.

Some stitch losses.

Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound.
