Framed in an old, possibly original, gilded, gesso frame. Rippled, old glass cover.
Fixed to wood, with a paper backing.
The embroidery is worked in silk, on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches with painted details.
Colours greens, cream, light brown, gold, black, blues and pink.
Pictorial scene depicts an angel blowing a trumpet/horn, unveiling a potrait of George III.
A ribbon reads,
'GEORGUIS III DEI GRATIA REX' meaning 'King George III by the Grace of God'.
No signature or date.
This embroidery was possibly made to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III, in October 1809.
CONDITION: Very Good.
No holes.
No stains.
No stitch losses.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
No colour run.
Frame showing slight wear and chips, but structurally sound.
