
George II, dated 1781. 25ins by 8.5ins wide. 1781 Sampler by Mary Stringer. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Stitched to linen with wood and brown paper backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout.
Divider lines in various patterns.
Colours green, cream, blue, pink, red and brown.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and numbers 1-10.
Verse reads
'Praise the Lord o my soul and all
That is within me praise his holy name
Lord who am I or what is in me that
Thou should thus put honour
upom me'.
Signed and dated
'Mary Stringer Aged 13
September 20 1781'.
