George II, dated 1738. 16.5ins by 7.5ins wide. Antique Sampler, 1738, by Ann Cristell. Framed in an old wood frame with glass.

Mounted on acid free card with cardboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

No border, divider lines in various patterns.

Colours red, cream, blue, yellow, pale blue, pale green and pink.

Alphabets A-Z in upper case.

Verse reads

'RememBeR noW thy cReatoR

in the Days of thy youth. Whii

the eviL Days come not. noR

the yeaRs DRaW niGh. When

thou shaLt say I heave no Plea

suRe in them'.

Signed and dated

'Ann CRisteLL HeR WoRk Done in the yeaR of ouR LORD 1738 Finis'.

A scattering of motifs, including diamonds

and crowns.

CONDITION: Good.

A few small holes.

A few pale stains.

Some stitch losses to the divider lines, letters, verse, signature and motifs.

Colours are mostly good and strong with no noticeable fading.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
