
William IV, dated 1835. 15.25 ins high by 20.5ins wide. 1835 Sampler by Mary Hawkins. Framed in a modern wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Fixed to linen with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours black, cream, blue, brown and green.
Verse reads,
'Thou faithful unto Death!
And I will give thee
A Crown of life.'.
Signed and dated 'Mary Hawkins 1835 aged 13 Years'.
A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden, birds, angels,
potted flowering plants, fruit baskets, fir trees, crowns, hearts, a windmill, a dog and a anchor.
CONDITION: Good. A few holes to the edges.
A few patchy stains. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. Unevenly stretched.
Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
