Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Meandering strawberry border.
Colours greens, blue and cream.
Alphabets A-Z in lower case and numbers 1-14
Verse reads,
'Restless mortals toil for nought
Bliss in vain from earth is sought
Bliss, a native of the sky
Never wanders. Mortals try
There you cannot seek in vain
For to seek her is to gain'.
Inscription reads,
'Almost all difficulties are to be
overcome by perseverance'.
Signed and dated,
'Maria Sills Walsham Aged 7 Years Fin'ed Sep'er 13 1832'.
Walsham relates to a town in England, where the sampler was stitched.

A number of small holes and some loss of ground to the edges.
No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
No stitch losses other than to the holed areas.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
The silks bright and glossy.

Neatly and evenly stretched.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
