
George III, circa 1800. 18ins high by 14ins wide. Antique Georgian Embroidered Silkwork Picture of David and Abigail, with Painted Details. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.
Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The embroidery is worked in wool and silk on a silk ground, in a variety of stitches.
Colours red, cream, blue, gold, pink, browns and greens. Handpainted details include the sky, smoke and characters faces. Pictorial scene depicting David with Abigail - the wife of Nabal - and one of her female servants.
CONDITION: Good. A few small holes to the ground and stitch work, losses to the bottom edge.
No stains. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
