Victorian, circa 1860. 13.6ins high, 10.2ins wide, 3ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery spill vase with a theatrical and literary theme

which features Mazeppa tied to a zebra, running on a shaped base.

Dull gilt base line. Flatback, decorated only to the front.

This piece represents the Poem written by Lord Byron.

Condition

CONDITION: Good.

A few paint losses to the ground.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack under right front hoof;

flecks of stray coloured glaze to the base,

his right leg and to the reverse.

RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to ground.
