Staffordshire Pottery Jackfield Hen on Nest Tureen

Victorian, circa 1860. 7.1ins high, 9.1ins wide, 6.1ins depth.

Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover with a pastoral theme which features a hen on a basket, seated on a basketweave oval base.

Jackfield black version. Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Condition

Hen: Good. No restoration. Some paint losses to the comb and white spots.

Some rubbing to gilt.

Nest: Good. No restoration. A few small chips/flakes to the flange.

Some rubbing to gilt.

KILN EFFECT: kiln soot caught in the glaze to the interior.
