Staffordshire Pottery Pearlware Farmer Figure

pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 6.3ins high, 3.1ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery pearlware bocage figure with a pastoral theme which features a farmer, stood on a shaped base.

Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

Open bottomed.

Condition

CONDITION: Fair.

Two hairlines to reverse of base.

Small flakes to hat,

hem of tunic,

front and reverse of base.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the reverse;

glaze pops to the black enamel.

RESTORATION. Retouched tips to tree branches where bocage is missing.

Reglued tip to scythe.

Retouched paint losses.
