
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 6.9ins high, 4.7ins wide, 2.8ins depth. Salt Staffordshire Pottery pearlware bocage figure with a sporting theme
which features a gentleman holding a gun with his dog beside him, stood on an oval hollow base.
The piece is titled, 'SPORTS MAN' .
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Maker's marks Salt molded ribbon.
CONDITION: Generally good.
Tight hairline to underside of hollow base.
A few minor chips to the bocage.
A few small flakes to the ground.
A few paint losses to the man's coat and hat.
KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the ground;
small firing pit to the ground by man's right foot;
one flower absent on bocage tree, but overglazed indicating original manufacturing effect.
RESTORATION: Dog's tail and right front leg remodelled.
Two leaves of bocage remodelled.
