Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features lizards, beetles and a grub.
Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Mafra pottery.
Generally good. Chip to shredded clay to centre.
Two chips to glaze drips on foot rim - probably purposefully chipped off to enable the plate to sit flat.
Some flakes to shredded clay.
KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to one lizard's foot.
RESTORATION. Remodelled nose to one lizard.
Retouched flake to other lizard's tail.
Filled chip to grub's head and one beetle's horn.
