Cuhna Palissy Majolica Lizard and Snake Plate

Victorian, circa 1890. 7.1ins high, 7.1ins wide, 3.1ins depth.

Jose A Cunha Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, lizard in a burrow, beetle grubs and a moth.

Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Jose A Cunha pottery. Bears a pattern number, 'No. 5'.

Condition

Good. Some flakes to shredded clay ground.

KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to moth's wings and beetle's legs.
