Minton Majolica Mallard Game Pie Dish and Cover

Victorian, circa 1857. 7.1ins high, 12.6ins wide, 8.3ins depth.

Minton Majolica game pie dish which features a hare, mallard and blackbird on a bed of fern and oak leaves.

Colouration: brown, green, turquoise, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '9'.

Condition

Cover: Generally good. Some small flakes to the ground.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to mallard's wing,

blackbird's wing,

oak leaf,

rabbit's foot and thigh.

Stabilised and retouched crack running through from the rim, across the hare's back, to the centre of the lid.

Dish: Good. Chips and flakes to feet.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the rim.

RESTORATION. Retouched chips to inner rim.

Stabilised crack to handle.
