Desvres Majolica cockerel pitcher

Victorian, circa 1900. 9.3ins high, 6.7ins wide, 6ins depth. Desvres Majolica jug/pitcher which features a cockerel

with a shield inscribed 'Quand de Coq Chantera L'oeil On Boira'

to it's left side and a scroll on it's right side inscribed 'Chante Clair'.

Colouration: turquoise, magenta, brown, are predominant.

Condition

CONDITION: Good.

Tiny chip to lower beak.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze accumulation to the foot rim, causing the piece to rock slightly;

glaze run to the turquoise and green glazes.

RESTORATION: retouched chip to comb.
