Minton Majolica Nautilus Centrepiece Bowl

Victorian, circa 1865. 21.3ins high, 17.3ins wide, 8.5ins depth. Minton Majolica centrepiece bowl with a mythological theme

which features maidens and putti. The bowl is supported by two tritons.

Colouration: cobalt blue, pink, green, are predominant.

This piece was shown at the London Exhibition of 1862.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1865.

Condition

CONDITION: Very good. No restoration.

Small flake to one titon's tail fin.

Slight wear to bowl interior.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage lines to bowl interior, in the bottom, where the piece is attached to the base;

glaze run to the green glazes.
