Rare Minton Majolica Coconut & Mushroom Teapot

Victorian, circa 1872. 5.5ins high, 8.9ins wide, 4.1ins depth. Minton Majolica teapot which features a mushroom sat on top of a coconut.

Colouration: ochre, green, brown, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. English diamond registration mark for the date 05/04/1872. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1872.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Teapot: Good. Small flake to one foot.

KILN EFFECTS: glaze pops to the exterior;

slight glaze run to the green glazes;

notable crazing.

RESTORATION: remodelled end of spout.

Cover: Good. RESTORATION: filled chip to underside of flange.
