Minton Majolica Renaissance Revival Panelled Jug/Pitcher

Victorian, circa 1863. 11.4ins high, 7.9ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Minton Majolica jug/pitcher which features circular panels to the sides, depicting classical figures with dogs.

Grotesque mask to the front. Colouration: blue, ochre, cream, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1863.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Very good. No restoration. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line to the rim, running down the neck; shrinkage line to the mask.
