Majolica Passion Flower with Goat Handles Vase

Victorian, circa 1875. 15.2ins high, 10.6ins wide, 8.7ins depth.

Brown Westhead Moore & Co Majolica vase which features goat head handles and passion flowers to the ground.

Turquoise ground version. Colouration: turquoise, ochre, green, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '440'.

Book reference , 'Staffordshire Pottery - Majolica, Transfer Prints, Flow Blue, Fine Bone China from Cauldon' by Robert E. Cluett, page 53, figure 149. It is likely that this vase originally had a lid, as illustrated in the book reference.

Condition

Good. KILN EFFECTS: thin glaze application to interior rim;

a few glaze misses to the brown neck.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to one horn and base edge.

Retouched flake to rim.
