George Jones Majolica Sardine dish, cover & stand

Victorian, circa 1870. 3.9ins high, 8.5ins wide, 7.7ins depth.

George Jones Majolica sardine box which features fish on a seaweed ground, spiky leaf decoration to box and stand.

Pink ground version. Colouration: green, pink, ochre, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '1805'.

Condition

Dish: Good. Some wear to the foot rim.

RESTORATION. Retouched flakes to rim.

Cover: Generally good. Slight wear to top fish.

KILN EFFECTS: staining to the underside.

RESTORATION. Corner section of rim reglued and join retouched.

Stand: Good. Some wear to interior.

KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to rim.

RESTORATION: small filled chip to rim; retouched flake to rim.
