
Victorian, circa 1869. 4.1ins high, 13ins wide, 3.3ins depth. Minton Majolica inkwell which features two blue tits perched on either end. The dish modelled as oak leaves. The removable heads of the blue tits form lids.
Colouration: green, grey, ochre, are predominant.
The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1458'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1869.
CONDITION: Good. Slight wear to tail feathers.
KILN EFFECTS: glaze pop to the underside of both heads;
touch marks to the leaves.
RESTORATION. End of dish reglued and join retouched.
Retouched flake to rim of one head.
