Minton Majolica squirrel nut dish

Victorian, circa 1870. 5.2ins high, 9.8ins wide, 7.2ins depth. Minton Majolica nut dish which features a squirrel holding a nut. Colouration: green, brown, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1522'. English diamond registration mark for the date 23/07/1869. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1870.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good. Slight wear to interior.

KILN EFFECTS: some brown glaze run;

One ear modelled bigger than the other. This is in the original making, rather than an effect of the restoration.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to each ear tip.

Right ear reglued and join retouched.
