Antique Sampler, 1814, by Mary Frost

George III, dated 1814. 12ins by 13ins wide. 1814 House Sampler by Mary Frost. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Fixed to card brown paper backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Meandering floral border.

Colours greens, cream, pale blue, gold, black, light brown and pink.

Verse reads,

'Fear god and keep his>commandments

For this is the whole

Duty of man'.

Signed and dated

'Mary Froft Waf Born In The year October 10 1802 Finished may 11. 1814'.

A good set of motifs, including a house,

birds,

flowers,

potted flowering plants,

fruit baskets

and butterflies.

CONDITION: Generally good.

Two holes.

Slight staining to bottom right and top left corners.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run.

Unevenly stretched.

Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
