Antique Sampler, 1813, by Lydia Hersee

George III, dated 1813. 13ins by 13ins wide. 1813 'Royal Exchange' Sampler by Lydia Hersee. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch throughout.

Simple embroidered border.

Colours pink, cream, dark brown, gold, blue and greens.

Signed and dated,

'LYDIA HERSEE JULY 19 1813'.

A good set of motifs, including a house with a garden,

birds,

flowers,

fir trees,

a coat of arms and the title

'The Royal Exchange'

and dogs.

CONDITION: Generally Good.

A few holes.

A couple pale stains.

Some stitch losses to a couple of the motifs

and the signature.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

Colour run around the the pink and green threads.

Neatly and evenly stretched.

Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
